Photo 2. You can see where the earth slid down the mountainside. There was an art exhibit of people who told their stories of what happened to them in the landslide. One guy said he grabbed his neighbor’s cat and ran through the mud. One house was directly downhill from the landslide. A woman watched the slide and figured her home and family were gone. It turned out the landslide split and went around her house.

No one was killed, but some houses and workshops were destroyed.

Photo 3-7 The Diamond Beach is a strip of black sand belonging to the greater Breiðamerkursandur glacial plain, located by Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon on the South Coast of Iceland. The location is where a few glaciers empty on the way to the sea. Icebergs of varying sizes calve into the lake. Some icebergs are stuck to the bottom because they are so large under the surface. When the sun shines on the ice, it is like diamonds.
